Meet Annette Kovar McLaughlin

SHe/Her • Counselling Intern

Annette knows how much courage it takes to step into counselling and will provide you with a safe and judgement-free space in which you can explore your concerns and work collaboratively to find solutions.

Annette has a background in teaching both adults and children. She was a supply teacher for a time and also an English teacher both to students abroad and newcomers to Canada. More recently, Annette has been working for two counselling practices, helping with client care and day-to-day operations.

Annette holds an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Business from the University of Waterloo, and is in the process of completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

When not studying or working, Annette can generally be found in her garden growing food and flowers, out hiking or camping, or lost in a good book.

Annette’s approach:

Annette takes an integrated approach to counselling and has a holistic view of mental health. She truly believes there is no “one size fits all” approach to counselling, as each one of us is unique with unique life experiences. Her approach pulls from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and mindfulness practices. Her approach is flexible and will always be client-centered, strengths-based, culturally informed, and trauma-informed.
